The designers announced today include 2(x)IST, AJ Jeans by Anand Jon, Alvin Valley, Anthony Franco, Collection Bebe, Christian Audigier, Dina Bar-El, Ed Hardy, Grail, Imitation of Christ, Juan Carlos Obando, Joseph Domingo, Kevan Hall, Literature Noir, Monarchy Collection, Oligo Tissew, Rami Kashou, Samora, Sue Wong, Tart, Thrive and Voom by Joy Han. "The designers showing are a fantastic mix of established L.A. names, some newcomers and denim lines, all of which are a part of that fabulous mix of red carpet and the casual L.A. lifestyle," said Fern Mallis, senior vice president of IMG Fashion. "We are excited to announce these names, and look forward to releasing the full schedule in a few days." The event, which has grown significantly in recent years, has endeavored to retain the professional atmosphere of fashion weeks around the world while also taking advantage of its Los Angeles home and sensibility. This season the event will make a few changes, including reducing in size and capacity some venues, moving the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Design Suites, which have historically happened off site, into the Smashbox Studios complex, focusing the event schedule into the afternoon and evening and limiting the number of standing room guests allowed into the venue. "We are excited to grow Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Smashbox Studios," says Smashbox chief creative officer Davis Factor. "And with growth comes refinement, this season we took stock of the event and realized there are a number of changes that need to be made, this season and in future seasons." "When we joined as a founding sponsor of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Smashbox Studios, we believed the platform would gain stature and prominence with each passing season, and that's exactly what's happening," says Carol Goll, general manager of brand experience marketing at Mercedes-Benz USA. "Los Angeles is a style epicenter and these changes will help draw top talent to further bolster that recognition." One very exciting development is the move of the event's Design Suites to Smashbox Studios after a one season hiatus. The Design Suites, which traditionally are a forum for clothing and accessories lines to complement the runway shows, will include Andy the Anh, Dean Alan, The Dina Collection, DRES, Ema Savahl Couture, EXEX Jewelry, Kswiss, Fenix, Jennifer Rose Jewelry, JeTalia, La Chica Chic, LAI, Lo-Fi, Melly M, Mimi Turner, Mineral, Rockstyle, SBG Designs, Vanessa Carreno, Von Dutch, Wifebeader and Zandra Rhodes this season. Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Smashbox Studios is generously sponsored by Mercedes-Benz USA, who is joined this season by Smashbox Cosmetics, DHL, Cingular Wireless, part of the new AT&T, Judith Ripka, and The Sports Club/LA along with Gran Centenario Tequila, Moet & Chandon, Peroni, Chambord, Tasca , The New York Times, 944 Magazine, California Apparel News, The Los Angeles Times, New York Magazine and ULTRA HD.
