Mark Badgley and James Mischka know how to party like rock stars, or at least dress them. Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen caused a media frenzy just minutes before the show started. Nicky Hilton was also in attendance, joining them in the front row. Glamorous tough girls walked to Fashion Week's favorite DJ Javier Peral's rock and roll remixes. Inspired by dark fairy tales, Badgley Mischka turned it up this season with darker toned metallic gowns fit for a punk-princess. In fact, fresh-faced Lily Cole was quite reminiscent of Snow White sashaying down the runway in an amethyst and magenta silk velvet gown. While velvet was a theme throughout the show, the designers did explore other textures, notably fox fur layered on cashmere. In keeping with the "it color" of the season, blue showed up on everything from turquoise silk to cadet blue gowns. Scarlets and plums popped on the accordion-style pleated organza skirts. Just when we'd expect another dress, model Doutzen closed the show with an unexpected onyx satin trench, complete with a stunning skull pattern jeweled on the back. Rock on!
