Actresses turned fashion designers Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen are set to launch their first line of handbags. The Olsen twins, who have their own fashion line called The Row, are preparing to launch their line of handbags under their label. The Olsen twins handbags are slated to go on sale this week at Barneys New York. The nine handbags will include a day tote, backpack, doctor bag and classic shoulder bag, metal-framed minaudiere twin and laptop twin.

To promote their new handbags at Barneys, the Olsen Twins interviewed one and other. Ashley Olsen asked: “If you could raid any person’s wardrobe (alive or dead), who would it be?” to which her sister responded “Picasso.” In her counter interview, Mary Kate Olsen inquired: “What is your favorite piece of clothing you’ve designed for The Row?” Her sister Ashley Olsen replied: “I would have to say our first t-shirt. We have evolved so much since that first tee, but every collection is based on the same standards — luxurious fabrics, impeccable fit, and the highest level of quality.” Be sure to check out The Row at Barneys.

The Olsen twins were spotted visiting a gallery in New York City on Wednesday, June 1. Joined by a friend, Mary Kate and Ashley headed to Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood to check out the displays at a Matt Groening exhibition. Meanwhile, the former “Full House” gals recently announced that they will not be using their own faces to promote their fashion line, The Row, to avoid it being branded as a celebrity fashion line.

Mary-Kate went into further detail with their decision , “We were aware of [the growing trend of] celebrity brands. We were trying to get away from that because we’d already done it with Wal-Mart, and we did it well. We’d been there, we’d done that.” I like how they are taking the initiative to spear head their fashion line. I think ‘The Row’ is fairly promising at this point and holds a lot of potential and could really big on of the next big names in fashion.

The Baby Phat 2005 Fall Fashion Show by designer Kimora Lee Simmons had a huge celebrity turn out for the popular line. The collection was made up of the most innovative designs and the after-party was among the best during New York Fashion Week that season. Revealing her most most innovative collection up to that date, Kimora took the 2005 Fall Collection to a new level.

The sleekest and sexiest designs covered each of the runway models as they strutted down the catwalk to some of the hottest hip hop tracks as the shows’ music/fashion fusion was seamless. From swimwear to hats all the way down to latest body fitting under garments, nothing was left out. All designs were made for woman to feel and look like the most styled for an everyday and every night occasion. The jackets that were showcased were the highlight of this show. Jackets and furs completed each design and gave a new look for 2005.
